Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re an industrial or commercial business owner and you have an issue with your roof, there are bound to be questions. Work required to any part of a building takes time and is vital to keep your business running smoothly. It’ natural to seek out the best advice and for you to want to know that you have the best people for the job.

At PIRC, we are experts on industrial and commercial roofs and always like to help wherever we can. Here are some of our most commonly asked questions – and the answers – to give you peace of mind.

Leaks in industrial roofs can be causes by many things. One of the main causes can be clogged gutters. Gutters need to be cleared at least once a year to ensure they drain water from the building correctly. Another reason for roof leaks can be damaged roof lights which may be letting water into the building.  The general age of the building can also be a factor which can cause cladding panels to crack and peel which leaves it exposed to moisture and can then leak into the building. Signs of a leaky roof can include a stained ceiling or walls, odour or mould, puddles or water inside and visible roof damage.

The first thing for you should do is to find out the cause of the problem. PIRC offer a FREE drone survey to carry out efficient aerial inspections. The drone surveys enable us to access hard-to-reach areas in a safe and effective way. The results of your FREE survey will tell us what we’re dealing with and we can go through several options with you to fix your leaking roof for good.  Book your survey here.

Natural daylight in an industrial or commercial building is important. Not only does is look great, but it lowers the need for artificial lighting which can save hundreds on energy bills and creates a healthy environment.

At PIRC, we offer a range of modern rooflights which are the most efficient ways to get more natural light into your industrial or commercial building. We offer simple modular options as well as custom-designed self-supporting skylights which will update the whole look of your building as well as providing much needed light. Our range is suitable for most buildings across the industrial, commercial and agriculture sectors.

Older buildings can look tired and uninviting which can impact on how your business is being perceived by customers and employees. But there is a cost-effective solution. Cladding is a layer of material added to the building to change its look and can transform an old industrial building into something that looks brand new.

There are a variety of different materials you can use for a cladding design and these include timber, stone and metal. For commercial buildings such as car showrooms, it is essential to give your customers the best impression and the right cladding can create a sleek, modern look for the building. Not only can cladding look great but it can also help to waterproof the building or add a thermal insulation.

We have an informative blog about asbestos here, but the basics are simple. Asbestos is usually discovered when the roof sheets or tiles deteriorate with age and become more brittle. The mineral fibres can become loose and be inhaled which can be extremely dangerous. If discovered in the roof of your place of work, it’s enough to make anyone feel uneasy. However, there are options make it safe and the first thing you should do is give us a call.

The team at PIRC are experts on asbestos removal. The asbestos can be completely removed or there is a cost-effective over cladding option that will minimise time and disruption to a site.

Over-cladding the roof is completely safe and seals in any dangerous fibres. This option is much cheaper than asbestos removal from the roof and normal work can continue inside the building while work is being done. PIRC can also provide a roof refurbishment using the over clad process. This is installed by the team using the clip and bar system.

Absolutely Not. At PIRC, we pride ourselves on causing as little disruption to the running of your business as possible. We will make sure to go through options with you – if your roof can be fixed, we’ll find you the most cost-effective way of fixing it.

The team at PIRC have years of experience between us and we have worked with top name clients including PURE Gym, Scotmid, Muntons Malts and Quaker Oats.
